With the opening of the 2020 ski season all set for Tomorrow, it’s great timing to hand the over Mt Buller’s now completed Kooroora apartments to their proud owners.  Developed by Altiset Development (Grollo Group),  Kooroora apartments features a collection of 21 boutique residences designed by Interlando Mantessi Architects to connect the rich history of Mt Buller with renewed life.

As Project Manager for the construction of the three stage Kooroora development, the SEMZ team have worked alongside head contractor Lang Construction and sub-contractors to ensure stage two of the development was completed and alive for the start of the ski season.

With the world economy impacted in numerous ways throughout the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, it’s been fantastic to see the Kooroora apartment development forging ahead seamlessly.  The project was carefully managed with Lang Construction’s well thought-out resourcing.   Utilisation of local labour and materials from the Mansfield region allowed for timely high quality project completion.

Like all projects, there were various challenges to overcome throughout construction.  Being located at the peak of a mountain with limited road access and a timeline bookended by inclement weather, the time frame was always going to be tight.  With the size of stage two, it was critical to begin construction the moment the 2019 ski season ended.  With a full concrete structure topped with a steel structure and all fit-out and rectification to be completed in around nine months, it was essential to resolve any issues immediately and keep the project moving.

The SEMZ team, along with the project Architect, Building Surveyor and Services Engineer conducted final inspections on site on Friday.  With the snow now falling and lift passes for the 2020 season quickly selling out, we’re pleased to have played a part in delivering the Kooroora Apartments.
