After only 22 months of hard work as Project Managers of an enormous and immensely talented team, SEMZ are proud of our part in bringing St Kilda’s much loved Esplanade Hotel back to life.

ST KILDA landmark -The Esplanade Hotel will officially open this Friday for the first time in years.

Sand Hill Road’s latest masterpiece –  the historic and culturally iconic venue fondly known as ‘The Espy’ has been lovingly restored and transformed.   The hotel’s beautiful new interior, designed by Techne Architecture and Interior Design melds together a contemporary twist while honouring the Victorian building’s rich heritage.

The transformation is spread across six levels, opening up previously inaccessible parts of the St Kilda grand seaside hotel.  The variety of spaces includes 12 bars, two restaurants and three music stages, serviced by 250 staff.

Given the bespoke heritage nature and size of the transformation, it has been both a challenging and rewarding project.  It’s fair to say SEMZ are thrilled to have played such an integral part as Project Manager and Superintendent alongside Sand Hill Road, Hutchinson Builders, Techne Architects and Elisha Gray Design to deliver a project that has such strong cultural significance both within St Kilda, and across broader Melbourne.

Taking the time to enjoy a well-earned drink at the Espy this week, the SEMZ  team can’t wait to see Melbourne embrace this amazing showcase of restoration, innovation, talent and craftmanship.
