Nestled in the heart of the village square, Mount Buller’s Kooroora Hotel has always been regarded as the mountain’s favourite watering hole.

SEMZ were initially engaged to provide strategic advice to the Grollo group in determining the best use for this Victorian Alpine Icon. With plans in place, the SEMZ team were then appointed to provide Project Management services in bringing the Kooroora vision to reality.

Racing against the onset of Winter, the SEMZ Project Management team worked within a tight time frame to ensure construction completion before the snow set in. Further compounding the challenge, the Victorian Alps received their best snow conditions for opening weekend since 2002 with May’s late cold snap spreading over a metre of fresh snow prompting the Ski Season to commence a week earlier than scheduled.

Despite the challenges imposed by weather, the SEMZ team worked with the builder, completing the project’s first stage in time to allow Mt Buller’s visitors and residents to enjoy the newly completed nightclub and pub throughout the 2019 ski season.

With Spring underway and the weather warming up, the SEMZ team are preparing for stage two works – including construction of the four-storey Kooroora apartment complex and fit out of the retail space below.

Kooroora apartments is a collection of 21 boutique residences designed to connect the rich history of Mt Buller with renewed life. With apartments 100% pre sold, we look forward to the next stage of construction commencing in October this year.
