In support of our client, Melbourne City Mission and to raise funds for the 6,000 young people in Victoria with no place to call home, Wayne, Alison, Jeremy, Hariz, Lauren, Alex, and Gareth from the SEMZ team will spend a night at the G’ on May 10. Their uncomfortable night sleeping at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will provide comfort and security for a young person without a home. By raising funds and experiencing firsthand the core issues behind homelessness, the SEMZ team will join hundreds of Melbournians in raising awareness about this critical social issue and encourage action to address it.

SEMZ has been appointed by Melbourne City Mission to Project Manage and Superintend construction of a new campus for the Hester Hornbrook Academy school in Werribee, Melbourne. The academy provides education and support for young people who have experienced social or educational challenges and those who are at risk of homelessness.

The Hester Hornbrook Academy is an independent registered school that offers a trauma-informed, healing-oriented learning environment. Its focus is on addressing student wellbeing first to ensure excellent educational outcomes, providing educators and youth workers in every class. The new campus in Werribee will expand the academy’s reach, supporting even more young people aged 15-25 who may not otherwise access education and support.

As an organization, SEMZ finds huge fulfillment in delivering schools to improve learning opportunities for young people, and facilities for local community use. The Hester Hornbrook Academy takes this impact and fulfillment to the next level by supporting some of Victoria’s most at risk young people who may not have access to education and support through traditional channels.

SEMZ is proud to support Melbourne City Mission in their work to address youth homelessness and provide critical support to vulnerable young people. Thank you to Wayne, Alison, Jeremy, Hariz, Lauren, Alex, and Gareth from the SEMZ team for donating your time to Sleep at the G, raising awareness and funds for this critical cause. To help us make a difference please support Team SEMZ Sleep At The ‘G – SEMZ (sleepattheg.com.au).

We look forward to getting underway with construction on Hester Hornbrook’s newest campus and supporting even more young people in achieving their education and life goals.
