We are pleased to announce the establishment of the SEMZ Advisory Board. The SEMZ Advisory Board was formed to provide SEMZ and its’ directors access to a broad range of views and experience.
Chaired by Tim Bamford, along with Dr Dan Evans and Malcolm Speed AO, career experience including Major Events, Mining, Engineering, Corporate Advisory, Sports Administration and Law provides a comprehensive pool of perspectives across all aspects of SEMZ operation
Tim Bamford
With more than 20 years’ experience in leadership roles responsible for the delivery of Major Projects of state significance, Tim Bamford has made a significant contribution to facilities, infrastructure and lifestyle for the Victorian community.
With a varied professional background, Tim began his career as an Engineer in the UK. He has held various roles across Asia and Australia including CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (2004 -2007) and most recently as the Executive Director of Major Projects Victoria (MPV) (2012 -2017) where he was responsible for delivery of a $2bn portfolio of complex, unique projects of significance including sports stadia, arts venues, urban regeneration and scientific research facilities.
Tim brings to the SEMZ board an elite capability and understanding of Project Governance, Commercial Strategy and Stakeholder Management.
Dan Evans
Dr Dan Evans has had two professional careers covering the mining and professional services sectors. After 26 years with WMC Resources where his final role was Vice President Exploration – Africa/Eurasia, he spent 16 years in management consulting. He was a strategy partner in Accenture, focused on the global mineral resources industry. Subsequently, Dr Evans was the Founder and Principal of Executive Compass, a business strategy management consultancy until his retirement in 2014.
Dr Evans has extensive expertise across corporate advisory and board roles. He has served as Deputy Chairman of the Monash University Medical Foundation, Deputy Chairman of Business for Millennium Development (B4MD), a Director of Summer Foundation, appointed expert member of Scope’s Risk & Audit Committee and Chairman of RMDSTEM. Dr Evans was a long term Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and AusIMM.
Malcolm Speed
Malcolm Speed is widely regarded as one of Australia’s leading Sports Administrators. He has had a long and varied career as a barrister, sports administrator, and company director. He was CEO of Cricket Australia (1997-2001) and the International Cricket Council (2001-2008) as well as holding senior positions in basketball during the 80’s and 90’s and in 2012 was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. His recent board roles include Victorian Major Events Company, Golf Australia and Cycling Australia.
Malcolm is now occupied in a range of sport related roles as a university lecturer, consultant, and company director where his appointments include, Sports Environment Alliance, Richmond Football Club and the Coalition of Major Professional and Participation Sports.
In 2015 Malcolm was inducted as an Officer of the Order of Australia.
