As Project Manager and Superintendent for the Fitzroy Gasworks Senior Campus (Interim name), SEMZ are excited to play our part in delivering Victoria’s largest-ever vertical public-school development.
Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Richmond Richard Wynne recently released designs of the new Fitzroy Gasworks School’s façade and announced early site works are now underway.
Designed by GHD Woodhead and Grimshaw architects, with Watpac Construction appointed as Head Contractor, the $84 million inner-north campus will accommodate senior students from Fitzroy High School and Collingwood College within a new multi-level school campus featuring a stepped rooftop space traversing four levels.
The project site is located at the old Fitzroy Gasworks site. Fitzroy Gasworks is an important part of Fitzroy North’s industrial and social heritage, and the school campus is part of an important urban renewal project to re-energise this space.
The school will include state-of-the-art general learning spaces, an arts and performance space, a digital design and technology hub, a wood and metalwork hub, and access to a rooftop terrace outdoor court and activity space.
With State Government plans working to ensure every child can access a great local school where students can achieve their best, Planning Minister Richard Wynne is excited to improve education opportunities for local students. “This new senior school campus will revitalise the local area and ensure local students get the best quality education.”
