Community Partners
We give back to the community.SEMZ Community Partners
At SEMZ we have forged relationships with our chosen community partners to give back to our community in a meaningful way.
Our team benefits from taking an active role in these partnerships. We embrace staff-led initiatives for giving back, and encourage new ideas and opportunities for SEMZ to make a difference.
Human Rights Law Centre
The Human Rights Law Centre uses strategic legal action, policy solutions and advocacy to support people and communities to eliminate inequality and injustice and build a fairer, more compassionate Australia.
HRLC vision is an Australia where everyone is free to lead a decent, dignified life; where our laws, policies and institutions promote fairness and equality; and where people and communities have the power to address inequality and injustice, and ensure that governments always act in the public interest.
SEMZ have partnered with HRLC to provide financial assistance and support.
Starlight Foundation
SEMZ has partnered with Starlight Foundation to provide financial support and take part in fundraising and awareness campaigns.
For over 30 years Starlight has worked in partnership with health professionals to bring the fun, joy and laughter that helps sick kids be kids.
Starlight help kids of all ages regardless of disability, injury or illness because what happens in childhood lasts a lifetime.
Very Special Kids
Very Special Kids is a children’s charity that helps approximately 850 families across Victoria who have a child with a life-threatening condition with ongoing support from diagnosis all the way through to recovery or bereavement.
The free-of-charge family support services include a children’s hospice counselling, advocacy, sibling support, bereavement support, networking and peer activities, trained family volunteers and specialist care at the Very Special Kids Hospice. Salvation Army / RMIT Project
SEMZ have partnered with RMIT University to mentor and guide Project Management students throughout an exciting 12-week capstone project.
In conjunction with The Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) and supported by the Salvation Army, this incredible project involves the RMIT students managing a project to provide improved facilities on-site at the St Kilda PCYC rooming house.
Residents of the rooming house are vulnerable young adults (18 – 25 years) who have experienced adversity, including homelessness and poverty.
JESUIT SOCIAL SERVICES
Jesuit Social Services is a social change organisation working to build a just society where all people can live to their full potential.
One of many services provided by JSS is Perry House in Melbourne.
Perry House is a residential based living skills program for young people with an intellectual disability involved with youth justice and correctional services.
The house provides accommodation for four young people who require support in developing independent living skills for 24 months.
SEMZ has partnered with Jackson, Clements, Burrows Architects(JCBA), Ratio Planning Consultants and WT Partnership to produce a concept design and funding application for a redevelopment that will modernise the Perry House facility and expand its operations to cater for more at-risk young people.
